About Me

Inspired equally by Judy Blume novels and the copies of New York magazine that my parents kept piled on the coffee table, I grew up on Long Island vowing that someday I would be a writer. I am happy to say that it worked out, and I didn’t have to go to law school after all. For the first half of my career, I held editorial jobs at Seventeen, Elle, Mirabella, Time Out New York, and Glamour. Ten years ago, after my first daughter was born, I switched to freelance writing, covering parenting, pregnancy, women’s health, nutrition, relationships, and the arts for Self, Heath, Fitness, Real Simple, American Baby, Parents, Redbook, Weight Watchers, More, Prevention, Fit Pregnancy, Time Out New York Kids, and many others. My articles have won a 2008 Folio Bronze Medal in the Parenting category and a 2010 MIN Award for Best Series. In between assignments, I wrote a book about childbirth— Deliver This!—published by Seal Press in January 2007. When I’m not hunched over my laptop at a coffee bar, I can usually be found singing show tunes with my two daughters.
